Organic Meadow:
A Leader in Canada's Organic Dairy Movement
Since 1989
Organic Meadow has always been ahead of its time.
Our farmers established organic dairy practice two decades before the Canadian Organic Dairy Standards were formalized by the Canadian Food Inspection Agency in 2009.
Every Organic Meadow farm upholds an unwavering commitment to the Canadian Organic Dairy Standards.
Canadian Organic Standards
Whenever you see the Canadian Organic seal, it means that the food inside has come from a certified farm or business that adhere to the rigorous Canadian Organic Products Regulation.
For organic dairy products, this means:
No synthetic pesticides
Free of synthetic chemicals throughout the entire value chain. Absolutely no synthetic pesticides, herbicides, fungicides, chemicals, artificial ingredients or preservatives used in food production.
No Hormones
Use of growth hormones is not permitted on any dairy farm in Canada.
Organic Diet
Cows' diet consists of non-GMO feed and at least 60% of their diet must be derived from organic grass*.
*Grass defined as fresh/dried grass, clover, alfalfa, fodder, legumes, brassicas, and/or other green plants
Non-GMO
There must be no genetically modified organisms used on farms or in food production.
Animal Welfare
Animals must have access to the outdoors year-round, with a minimum of 120 days of grazing per year.
